Did you know That Slugs belong to a family called gastropods and technically slugs and snails are the same things?! ZAUWY!!
Slugs travel around on slime trails that are super gross and actually made of their snot. They also use that snot to keep them safe by making it hard for predators to pick them up to eat them and tasting super nasty.
They can sense where they are using two sets of tentacles on their head with the top pair used for sensing light and the bottom pair used to smell and they breath through a hole on their backs, kinda like dolphins, except slime-ier. The biggest slugs can be more than a foot long like the banana slug can be up to a foot long and come in all colors!
Slugs mostly come out at night and after rains because they LOVE moisture and can usually be found hiding somewhere damp, like under rocks, rotting leaves, or logs. They help to break down plants and animals by eating leaves and mushrooms and even dead creatures with a radula, a sandpaper like rough tongue some have compared to a tiny little cat tongue. YIKES!
