The speedy cheetah is the fastest land animal on earth and can run at speeds up to 65 miles per hour! But they’re not super fast in letting go of their young. A mother cheetah takes care of it’s young until they are 2 years old.
They are not only fast, but have to be pretty sneaky to catch their prey. They can only sprint for about 15 minutes at a time. A really cool thing about cheetahs is that when running, their special spine can stretch out to let them cover 30 feet in a single bound!
They hunt during the day to avoid their bigger cousins the lions who mainly hunt at night. They hang out in family groups called a coalition and there are only about 7,000 left in the wild!
